Valentine's Day is a'coming, which means dressing for a night out on the town with your significant other (or others, if you subscribe, like we do, to Carrie Bradshaw's girlfriends-as-soulmates mantra).

In honor of the impending día del amor, we've assembled some Valentine's Day fashion and beauty inspiration from—where else—the red carpet! Celebs have stepped out in their pink-and-red bests, but we're also looking at sleek monochrome styles, like a black jumpsuit (see Rosie Huntington-Whiteley for how it's done), lacy romper (as worn to perfection by Lily Collins) and classic LBD (go fit-and-flare like Jessica Chastain). Pale pink, meanwhile, has never looked sweeter than on Reese Witherspoon (in a structured Balenciaga mini) and Jennifer Lopez, who wore a Reem Acra coat to brace the cold in New York City.

For a sexy no–holds–barred look, why not wear a pantsuit sans undershirt like Solange Knowles (big sis Beyoncé liked her pink Gucci suit so much that she got one too), or a slinky red dress with sheer illusion panels, a favorite style of supermodel Alessandra Ambrosio. For a comfortable but ultra-cute get-up, a colorful shift dress, like Diane Kruger's Marni mini, could do the trick.

And for those looking to kick the red habit for Feb. 14, we're think a luxe blue coat and black-and-white frock would be an easy fix, as spotted on Julianne Hough.

And, well, if you're not into wearing all pink or red for Valentine's, you may find solace in sporting warm hues as a bright accent accessory instead. Whip out those red or pink pumps (like Gwyneth Paltrow's fuchsia Manolo Blahnik pair), carry a crimson clutch or stack on coral jewelry—there's no shortage of ways to bring love-oriented colors into your date night ensemble.

As for ménage à deux hair, we might take a cue from the awards season red carpets—where high, unfussy ponytails (à la Chrissy Teigen) and sleek, low-hung buns (as worn by Kate Hudson) ruled. A braided updo, like Jordana Brewster's side-braid showcasing twist, would be a romantic choice for the evening, as well as Jessica Chastain's over-the-shoulder retro waves.

For ladies with shorter hair, Taylor Swift's sideswept bob could be an easy, done-in-no-time style to recreate. And we were also taken with Amber Heard's ultra-wavy (and chicly undone) half-up, half-down 'do.

And now onto all things beauty: A bold crimson, violet or magenta lip should see you through the night in style (click here for celebs' long-lasting lipwear favorites), a look that's been frequently seen on Angelina Jolie, Rihanna, Jessica Chastain and Gabrielle Union.

For those partial to nude, natural lips, a sultry smoky eye might be the route to take—especially if your look is as lovely as Allison Williams at the 2015 Golden Globes. Have a face that can handle a dark eye and vampy lip? Then go for both à la Emily Wickersham.
