A lot of beauty trends have a genesis in either Hollywood or fashion. Celebrities have been style muses for numerous beauty and fashion lines. This awards show season, however, the reverse rings true in the nail department. We're seeing major fashion for our fingers come straight from the 2015 runways.

From fancy, embellished nail art to traditional, simple designs, the nail trends this year span the spectrum. On one end? Celebs such as Rihanna, Sarah Hyland and Genesis Rodriguez, who  really know how to rock fun, in-your-face fingers.

Pale nails from bright whites to soft muted pinks were seen on the runway this season at shows like Tess Giberson, Naeem Khan, Alice + Olivia and more. It seemed like the red carpet was right behind them.

Chrissy Teigen and Conchita Wurst both showed off the softer side of the trend at the Golden Globes, with Emily Blunt following suit on the Critics' Choice Awards red carpet.

Matte metallics were present up and down Clover Canyon's runway. The illuminating trend was also used as an accent paired with nude hues, reverse French manicures or intricate patterns for such designers as Cushnie et Ochs, Tadashi Shoji and Creatures of the Wind.

Laura Prepon's bronze-gold stiletto nails were a perfect choice for the Golden Globes, while Jennifer Lopez's dress almost overshadowed her rose stiletto digits. Keira Knightley's soft, silver metallic nails seemed to be the perfect companions to her butterfly accent.

As other designers were trying to up the avant-garde ante, designers like Zac Posen, Jenny Packham and Carolina Herrera were keeping it classic. Some kept with classic red, while others did updated orange-reds or deep reds.

Red carpet nails make a lot of sense in the color red. Ellie Kemper's crimson colored nails were a striking contrast to her Naeem Khan dress at the Golden Globes. Jennifer Aniston's seriously vampy red nails were inspiring. She also wore red nails to the Critics' Choice Awards. At the People's Choice Awards, Olivia Munn totally handled girl-next-door chic with her high ponytail and classic red nails.

This year designers were showcasing the French manicure in their shows left and right, but a few runway shows featured awesome spins on this fingernail classic. We saw non-traditional French manicures at the shows of such designers as Zang Toi, Sophie Theallet and Alon Levine.

One of the biggest nail trends of the red carpet has been nudes, but our girls Camila Alves and Lupita Nyong'o gave it an update by merging it with soft French manicures at the 2015 Golden Globes.
