Just a few days after E! News broke the news that the cute couple are ready to get hitched after six months of dating, we caught up with a few of their Hollywood pals to get their reactions on the exciting news.
"I'm just so happy for him. It's fantastic!" Somerhalder's friend Sophia Bush gushed to E! News at the NBC TCA. "He's such a good dude, she's awesome. It's like you couldn't hope for anything more for your friends, you know?"
Meanwhile, Reed's pal and Twilight co-star Peter Facinelli hadn't even heard she was engaged yet. "She didn't even tell me!" he joked. "I'm texting her right now."
"Congratulations Nikki, you know I love you," Facinelli added with a giant smile. "I'm gonna be the first one sitting in the aisle with tears in my eyes."
We broke the news last week that the 36-year-old Vampire Diaries star had popped the big questions to the 26-year-old actress. One source revealed to E! News that Somerhalder told Reed he had "been in love with [her] for years," long before they took their friendship to the next level.
"They're so happy," the source added. "They were crazy happy from the start. Their families love each other. It just feels really right."
