Well, here's a silver lining.

Selma actor David Oyelowo paid a stylish tribute to Martin Luther King, Jr. at the 2015 Critics' Choice Awards: Oyelowo wore a suit jacket lined with lyrics from Dr. King's favorite gospel song, which rang even more poignant considering that last night would have been MLK Jr.'s 86th birthday.

The British actor, who was nominated but did not win last night for his portrayal of the civil rights leader in Selma, seemed in good spirits amid the continued upset over his Oscar nomination snub. Selma director Ava DuVernay was also conspicuously absent from the nominees for Best Director.

Altogether, it was a dapper red blue carpet appearance for Oyelowo, who complemented the custom jacket with a white button-down, slim-fitting pants and cap-toe shoes.

Oyelowo wasn't the only star who paid tribute to MLK Jr. last night: Critics' Choice Award MVP winner Jessica Chastain took time in her speech to address the lack of diversity in Hollywood.

"Today is Martin Luther King, Jr.'s birthday, so it got me thinking about our need to build the strength of diversity in our industry, and to stand together against homophobic, sexist, misogynistic, anti-Semitic and racist agendas," Chastain said, before adding that she was optimistic for the future.

"Martin Luther King, Jr. said ‘Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter,' and I would like to encourage everyone in this room to please speak up. Thank you."
