The Suicide Squad is down one villain (or should we say hero?)!

Tom Hardy has dropped out of the upcoming star-studded Suicide Squad movie, Warner Bros. Studios confirms to E! News. The hunky star had to pull out because of scheduling conflicts. The 37-year-old Brit actor was supposed to play the part of Rick Flag in the film adaptation of the popular DC comic book.

While Hardy will no longer be a part of the highly anticipated Squad, Warner Bros. is reportedly looking to replace Hardy with another big A-list actor. The Hollywood Reporter reports that Jake Gyllenhaal is the frontrunner to take on the role of Flag in the film.

Suicide Squad is based on the DC Comics story of villains who are forced to take on the role of heroes. The initial Suicide Squad casting announcement came out back in early December.

Jared Leto is slated to play The Joker while Will Smith landed the part of Deadshot. Boomerang will be played by Unbroken's Jai Courtney, supermodel Cara Delevingne will be portraying the Enchantress and Margot Robbie will be Harley Quinn.

The flick will be directed by David Ayer.
