Whatever happened to Alec Baldwin's plans to quit acting?
Not that we ever believed he would for a second, but the three-time Golden Globe winner and two-time Emmy winner has talked a lot in recent years about wanting to get out of showbiz—always for some reason or another—to focus on other pursuits (or to be left the heck alone).
So Extra asked him on the red carpet last night at the premiere of his latest film, Still Alice, why he's still at it.
"I thought I would be retiring from acting in about seven or eight years and now I'm going to work for the next 20 years," the 56-year-old thesp said. "I‘ve got kids—in New York!"
Ireland Baldwin, his daughter with ex-wife Kim Basinger, is 19 and based in Los Angeles, but he's dad to year-old daughter Carmen with Hilaria Baldwin—and they just revealed earlier this month that they have a son on the way!
"I mean, my older daughter's grown...but a boy, got to get legal fees in case he gets arrested," Baldwin laughed. "If he's like any of the boys in my family, the cops are going to be coming."
Fair enough.
Meanwhile, Still Alice, in which Baldwin plays the husband of Julianne Moore's college professor who's diagnosed with early-onset Alzheimer's disease, is already an awards-season darling ahead of its theatrical release this Friday. Moore just picked up the Golden Globe for Best Actress in a Motion Picture, Drama, on Sunday and she's a shoo-in for an Oscar nomination when they're announced tomorrow.
