This Seattle Dog Was Sick of Waiting for Her Owner, So Now She Rides the Bus to the Park by Herself

If Eclipse's owner takes too long to board the bus with her, she'll just get on and ride to the dog park bus stop alone

This is such a cat thing, in our opinion. If you told us that a pet is so fed up with her owner not being on time that they literally take it upon themselves to get somewhere they want to be and leaving their slave owner in the dust, we would say: "That's probably a cat."

But nope. This is about a dog. An adorable, awesome dog who just wants to go to the dog park on her own schedule and on her own terms.

Eclipse is a bus-riding black lab from Seattle. His owner, Jeff Young, lives very close to a bus stop, and he often takes his dog to the dog park, which is a short bus ride away.

According to Seattle's KOMO 4 TV, one day Eclipse did not have the patience to wait for her owner to finish his cigarette so they could go to the dog park. So she got on the bus herself, rode it all the way to the dog park and got off at the correct stop.

"It's not hard to get on [the bus]," Jeff tells KOMO. "She gets on in front of her house and she gets off at the dog park, three or four stops later. She's a bus-riding, sidewalk-walking dog."

Local radio host Miles Montgomery reports that the dog always sits politely and quietly in a bus seat, and that fellow passengers love her.

"She was most concerned about seeing out the window, and I couldn't figure out what that was," Montgomery says. "It was really just about seeing where her stop was."

Usually public transportation means at least some kind of unwanted body contact with a stranger and at least one young person blasting music from their iPhones without headphones. So we're not the least bit surprised that passengers love to see Eclipse while commuting.

"All the bus drivers know her. She sits here just like a person does," bus-rider Tiona Rainwater tells KOMO. "She makes everybody happy. How could you not love this thing?"

Pretty soon we hope to train our cats to take the bus to the store themselves to pick up more cat food so we don't have to do it. Get your own Friskies, lazy cats!
