Laura Prepon knows about life behind bars.

OK, she's never actually served time, but she plays convicted drug smuggler Alex in the Netflix hit Orange Is the New Black.

The former That '70s Show star offered some advice for freshly minted prisoner Teresa Giudice when I caught up with her at the Golden Globes.

"Navigate the social hierarchy," Prepon exclusively told me. "There's definitely a hierarchy of where these women fall and you have to navigate very carefully through it.

"That's what I would say and also try not to shank anyone," she added. "That would not be good."

Fellow OITNB star Uzo Aduba wasn't as quick with suggestions.

She laughed, "I've never actually been to prison, so I'm not one to give advice."

The Real Housewives of New Jersey star began a 15-month sentence on Jan. 5 at the Federal Correctional Institution in Danbury, Conn. The facility happens to be the same on that inspired the series based on Piper Kerman's memoir.

Giudice's husband of 15 years, Joe Giudice, will begin his 41-month sentence after she's released. He then faces possible deportation because the native Italian is not a U.S. citizen.

Joe and their four daughters' first trip to visit Teresa over the weekend was postponed.

A source told E! New this morning that the kids had previously planned activities. "It's important to [Teresa] that their lives continue as normally and uninterrupted as possible," the source said.

Joe couldn't make it because he's a co-defendant in Teresa's case and needs special clearance, which he didn't receive in time for the visit.
