Fortunately, the Thor hunk didn't say goodbye to his long superhero locks completely, opting instead for a refreshed buzz. It is a sight to see the formerly long-maned man without his signature hairdo— after all, we're talking about one of the leading man-bun trailblazers here. But alas, Hemsworth decided it was time to part ways with his shaggy hair.
"I was nervous," Hemsworth dished on Live With Kelly & Michael of his decision to go shorter. "I'm a Leo so it was a little bit like losing my mane. I felt like I was losing my powers."
No need to be nervous, Chris—your knee-weakening, swoon-inducing powers are still in full effect, long hair or not!
The shorter haircut comes just in time for Hemsworth's Blackhat press tour, which means lots of red carpet appearances and little hair maintenance time. Ergo, the perfect opportunity for the 31-year-old actor to cut back to a less tedious hairstyle.
"It got long and messy and time consuming," he said of his shoulder-length hair. "It's like photo shoot hair— if you have someone following you around doing it for you, it's cool, but it's not practical."
But all is not lost—the Aussie joked to co-host Kelly Ripa and Michael Strahan that he kept the long locks, saying: "I got it backstage in a bag, so I'm gonna hand it out!" Spoiler alert: It was just a joke, and no lucky fan took home a lock of Hemsorth's hair.
