In case you didn't tune in to the Golden Globes, here's a little spoiler: It was all about the ladies. And we were loving every minute.

From watching the dynamic duo that is Amy Poehler and Tina Fey to acknowledging that all eyes were on Amal Clooney (who's that husband George of hers, anyway?), it was time for a number of fierce females to shine at the 72nd annual ceremony, where a bevy of beauties stole the spotlight from their hunky movie star husbands.

"Amal is a human rights lawyer who worked on the Enron case, was an advisor to Kofi Annan regarding Syria, and was selected for a three-person UN commission investigating rules of war violations in the Gaza Strip. So tonight her husband is getting a lifetime achievement award," Tina and Amy quipped of George Clooney, who was honored with the Cecil B. DeMille award Sunday night (unfortunately, no one cared because Amal was wearing white gloves).

As Time pointed out, the Guardian hit the nail on the head when they tweeted, "Human rights lawyer Amal Clooney and her husband have arrived."

Need more proof that girls run the Globes? Here are nine Hollywood power women:

PHOTOS: Check out all the big winners from the Golden Globes!

NBC

1. Amal Clooney: Not only did her hubby get burned by Tina and Amy thanks to the lawyer's long list of impressive achievements, but for once, the sole focus was not on Mr. Clooney. In fact, the former Sexiest Man Alive was more like arm candy for Amal, whom everyone couldn't stop watching, even when she looked ridiculously unimpressed. "As long as she doesn't get the train stepped on, I've succeeded," Clooney dished to E! News of his wife's stunning Dior gown. Mission accomplished, Clooney: you're officially the hottest trophy husband.

2. Jenna Dewan-Tatum: Few would argue that the gorgeous brunette has a more notable career than husband Channing Tatum, who has become a regular fixture on the Hollywood movie scene. However, it wasn't Tatum's beefy bod that got everyone buzzing last night, but instead, it was the moment when the Magic Mike hottie blew a stray eyelash off of his wife's face when the two walked onto the carpet. "I have an hourly rate: Anyone that needs their train held, I'm here," the actor joked to E! News while escorting his stunning wife. Swoon, much?

3. Amy Adams: While the Big Eyes beauty is not married, she has been with her partner Darren Le Gallo since 2002, and the two are clearly a rock-solid couple. Still, it didn't matter how much Adams gushed over her man, we'd like you to try and recall if you even remember seeing Darren (trust us, he was there, by her side). The red-headed stunner also gave a nod to girl power in her Best Actress acceptance speech when she said: "I have so many wonderful female role models here tonight. It's just so wonderful that women today have such a strong voice and I have a 4-and-a-half-year-old and I'm so grateful to have all the women in this room. You speak to her so loudly. She watches everything, and she sees everything and I'm just so, so grateful for all of you women in this room who have such a lovely, beautiful voice."

4. Keira Knightley: Although it's unlikely that the pregnant beauty will take home any fashion honors after her questionable Chanel ensemble, there's no doubt that Knightley was the one to watch on the red carpet, posing for pics both with and sans hubby James Righton. Oh, and did we mention the pair's first appearance as an expectant couple occurred just days prior? Probably not, because fans only cared about her baby bump.

5. Gwyneth Paltrow: Leave it to the Goop goddess to skip the red carpet entirely yet still turn just as many heads when she took the stage in her hot pink dress. Presumably, Gwyneth's ex Chris Martin, from whom she is consciously uncoupled but technically still married to, was on babysitting duty, tending to the pair's two children throughout the evening. Then again, his presence wasn't particularly missed, considering Gwynnie looked hotter than ever.

6. Jennifer Lopez: The superstar is a true testament to the fact that woman can (and do!) get better with age. The thrice-divorced actress didn't need a man to take center stage (her gown spoke for itself) and she laughed off Jeremy Renner's eyebrow-raising remark with both poise and class. During the red carpet, Lopez brought her Boy Next Door co-star Ryan Guzman to her interview with E!'s Ryan Seacrest.  "She's got a lot of love to give," Guzman gushed of J.Lo, clearly in awe of the triple threat!

7. Kate Hudson: The Almost Famous star slayed in her supersexy white Versace gown and has already landed upon many a best-dressed list. Like Gwyneth, Hudson, who announced the end of her engagement to Matthew Bellamy in December, was representing the single ladies at the ceremony—and looking mighty fine while doing so. Perhaps Bellamy and Martin had a daddy duty get-together? Hey, we can dream.

8. Naomi Watts: While it was Watts' diamond serpent necklace that was the true spotlight stealer, the Birdman actress continued to wow as she strutted her stuff alongside longtime partner Liev Schrieber, although no one really seemed to notice he was there. He was nominated for a Golden Globe for his work on Ray Donovan, but he didn't win, and, as we previously pointed out, his wife wore a snake around her neck. Game over.

9. Reese Witherspoon: Yes, the Wild star's agent hubby Jim Toth accompanied the nominee to the Golden Globe awards, but it was the real-life subject of her film, Cheryl Strayed, who was by the blond beauty's side when the two rocked the red carpet (Editor's note: if you haven't read Wild, pick up the book now!). "It's been so exciting to see the conversation changing about women in film and strong female leads in film, not just the afterthought of fourth lead, but actually as interesting dynamic characters," Witherspoon, who also produced Gone Girl, previously said. "Whether you like them, don't like them, at least they're starting a conversation."

Honorable Mention: Emma Stone—because she brought her brother instead of boyfriend Andrew Garfield. And she wore pants.
