Kathy Bates apparently had a freak accident at the Golden Globes tonight.

The American Horror Story: Freak Show star was heard shouting out in what sounded like agonizing pain earlier in the evening, not long before she lost to (but got a shout-out from) Best Supporting Actress in a TV Drama, Movie or Miniseries to Downton Abbey's Joanne Froggatt.

A witness tells E! News that it appeared someone had stepped on Bates' foot.

She needed a moment to collect herself, but the 66-year-old actress made it back to her seat and—though she appeared to still be in great pain—was there to appreciate Froggatt's anecdote about having a tête-a-tête with her fellow nominee with a smile.

Paramedics were also called to the Globes tonight (the likes of Taryn Manning tweeted about it) but it was unclear whether that had anything to do with Bates' injury.

Either way, we're wishing Bates a speedy recovery!
