And the Golden Globe goes to...Patricia Arquette

The 46-year-old actress took home the award for Best Supporting Actress in a Motion Picture for her role in the Richard Linklater-directed film Boyhood

Beating out some stiff competition, including Jessica Chastain, Keira Knightley, Emma Stone and Meryl Streep, Arquette appeared genuinely touched as she accepted her accolade—her first Golden Globe award.

The actress began by applauding her fellow nominees in addition to thanking Streep "for giving me a hug, I hope you're DNA transferred to me."

She then went on to share her appreciation for the filmmakers, cast and crew as well as her "onscreen family."

"Ethan Hawke, the amazing Ethan Hawke," she gushed as the audience applauded. "Ellar Coltrane, Lorelei Linklater, I love you all. And our visionary director, Richard Linklater, thank you for letting me a part of something that's so human, so simple and groundbreaking in the history of cinema. You placed in my hands the part of Olivia, an underappreciated single mother, thank you for shining a light on this woman and the millions of women like her and for allowing me to honor my own mother with this beautiful character."

The former Medium star continued, fighting back tears as she acknowledged her mom and dad. "To my parents Louis and Marty, who are no longer with us, you were very inspirational to me on this whole project and Ethan reminded me so much of my own father."

She also thanked her siblings and her "friends who watched my kids while I was trying to build a career as a 20-year-old single mother. To my man, Eric White, happy anniversary...and especially to my kids who I love and respect with all my heart. My favorite role in my whole life has been being your mom."

Too sweet. Congrats!
