"Had to do it, sorry," Jen didn't-really-apologize to Ryan Seacrest, who had just finished talking to Kate and was waiting for the Cake star to step up.
As he learned forward to hear more, Jen continued, "I didn't say you had to do anything...it's what I did."
"We feel comfortable," Kate added, obviously perfectly OK with the extra affection from her fellow actress.
Asked about the no-frills, intense role she took on in Cake, playing a woman left in chronic pain by a tragic accident, the former sitcom darling acknowledged how she'd been waiting for the right meaty role for some time.
"I mean, I've wanted to do a role that requires oomph for a long long time, and it just happened to take this long," Aniston said. "Obviously there seems to be a different reaction to pieces of work that turn into other pieces of work. It's something I've observed, we could say."
