Lena Dunham's relationship with Howard Stern certainly has had its ups and downs, but the frenemies have come a long way from that time the radio host referred to her as a "fat Jonah Hill-looking girl!"

Appearing on the Tonight Show, Dunham and host Jimmy Fallon started talking about the last time they had seen each other, which happened to be at Stern's 60th birthday party (maybe they've gone from frenemies to friends?). The event, Dunham said, turned out to be a "surprisingly inspiring evening." Oh, how we love some subtle shade.

But actually, the Girls star began to fawn over Stern and his career! They have said horrible things about each other (she reminded Fallon that she once called Stern a "cartoon of a female Jewish horse"), but apparently she is in awe of his passion for good works.

"I didn't think I was going to cry with joy and be so moved by his life's work and his relationship with [anchor] Robin Quivers," she said. "I lost it."

She continued to gush over the longtime host and his career, but admitted that they haven't always been the best of friends.

"It was beautiful," she added. "It was a celebration of a man who has truly made a difference, and if you told me I was going to say that five years ago I would've slapped you in the face."

The two have obviously buried the hatchet, and the writer/actress kept on voicing her praise for Stern, despite how "harsh" he was on her back in the day.

"I really think he's like a voice for important causes," she said. "I think he's an outspoken feminist."

Don't worry, she clearly hasn't forgotten their former feud because she constantly checks herself when she compliments him.

"Again these are words I'm like, 'What am I saying?' 'Who am I?'"
