The Golden Globes festivities kicked off last night with W magazine's annual star-studded private party at Chateau Marmont.

You know you're in the place to be when you see Superman (Henry Cavill) talking to Lois Lane (Amy Adams) on a terrace overlooking West Hollywood just a few feet away from Captain America (Chris Evans), who is having a drink with New York City's nightlife queen Amy Sacco.

On the other side of the terrace, Jessica Chastain is taking pics with W's editor-in-chief Stefano Tonchi as her hot Italian boyfriend Gian Luca Passi de Preposulo talks with some friends.

Reese Witherspoon was also there.

Cara Delevingne wore a very short white dress and carrying a small leather backpack. She enjoyed a plate of food on a bench while sharing a few words with Mr. Cavill.

Two hours into the party, about five hunky firemen unexpectly appeared and walked through the crowded bash. While many guests were hoping they were strippers, they were there to check on capacity compliance.

Fifty Shades of Grey star Jamie Dornan looked anything but Christian Grey. Bearded and dressed in slightly rumpled preppy attire, he shook hands with newly-married Eddie Redmayne.

Selma star David Oyelowo flipped through the magazine with editor Lynn Hirschberg to find his portrait in the Best Performances portfolio.

Whiplash's Miles Teller talked on a couch with Robert Duvall for what seemed like an hour or two. Gillian Anderson talked to Diane Kruger and Joshua Jackson but was nearly unrecognizable with very blonde hair.

Downton Abbey's Joanne Froggatt was one of the late arrivals as was Dylan Penn. Paris Hilton took selfies with photographer Ellen von Unwerth while Dancing With the Stars pro Cheryl Burke made her way through the crowd hand-in-hand with her boyfriend.

The pass-around menu included French fries and lemon bars. Waitstaff with black aprons emblazoned with Dom Pérignon supplied a non-stop flow of champagne.

Just not for Paula Patton.

"I'm not drinking tonight," the Mission Impossible beauty said to a friend. "But I'll go with you to the bar."
