How did Paul Rudd handle his first turn as a Marvel Comics superhero?

As far as we can tell from the brand-new Ant-Man trailer, which just debuted tonight during the premiere of ABC's Agent Carter, the usually pretty funny actor slipped seamlessly into the role of the size-shifting, super-strong crime fighter.

Rudd plays Scott Lang, a petty thief who gets his hands on Dr. Hank Pym's Ant-Man technology. Michael Douglas plays Pym, who adopts Lang as a protegée so that the wayward younger man can assume the important role of insect-hybrid here—especially since Corey Stoll's villainous Darren Cross got his hands on Pym's Yellowjacket suit!

Ouch!

Evangeline Lilly plays Pym's daughter, Hope Van Dyne. Bobby Cannavale, Judy Greer and Michael Peña also star.

Director Peyton Reed took over for Edgar Wright, who was attached to the project for years, just as production was getting underway last summer—and it looks as though the Yes Man director knew what he was doing.

Ant-Man hits theaters July 15—you bring the popcorn, we'll bring the Calamine lotion.
