No waiting for New Year's resolutions—Jordin Sparks is already working on her fitness routine.

The 25-year-old songstress showed off her toned physique over the weekend on Instagram, showcasing several shots from her brother's wedding. And whew, girl looks hotter than ever!

For that, you can thank Jordin's longtime personal trainer David Ashley, the man responsible for helping her shed more than 50 pounds ahead of her movie Sparkle, and her smokin' hot 2013 Shape magazine cover.

We caught up with Ashley on just how the starlet is keeping toned and trimmed for the new year, and how you can incorporate the same tips into your own New Year's fitness regimen.

What's a typical workout like for Jordin?
"Jordin works out for 30 minutes, but it's the same benefits as an hour workout [because she works out at such a high intensity]. The high intensity training spikes the metabolism," Ashley said, keeping metabolism spiked long after the workout is over. "The metabolism is still spiked for the next 24-hours; we are creating that metabolic consistent."

What moves and equipment do you utilize in your sessions?
"I like to mix it up. [We work a lot using] kettle bells, medicine balls, push-ups, jump squats, and traditional curls. The usage of quick hitting exercises, and low rest."

What areas do you focus on most during workouts?
"To keep her lean, we really focus on the leg and hip region," Ashley explained. "She's just keeping an overall full body workout, and that is what works best for women. You don't want to look like a body builder, focused on just one thing."

What's the secret behind your workouts with Jordin?
"The key to Jordin's training is high intensity and high cardio," Ashley said, explaining that they use D.A.M.I.T (David Ashley Metabolic Intensity Training) to focus on taking the heart rate up quickly with short rest periods in between.

So how does diet play into her fitness regimen?
"It's high protein, less starchy carbs and no white sugar when she's dieting down," Ashley said, noting that she strictly sticks to this eating plan.

What can fans learn from Jordin's commitment to healthy living and fitness?
"Resolutions don't work, it should just be a daily lifestyle. It should be like brushing your teeth. Do Something as opposed to nothing. Don't beat yourself up if you don't get it in. Get into a routine, something you can do and maintain as a lifestyle."
