We get it…It's that time of the year when you force yourself to suck down green juice and sign up for that fitness class in the hopes of reversing all the gluttonous behavior in December, but baby steps.

Gwyneth Paltrow's annual Goop cleanse is back in action to bring order to your daily meals, should you choose to accept the challenge.

The one problem? The elimination-based diet claims that if you follow the program to the letter, you'll be able to cleanse and detox all of those pesky toxins from Christmastime's past right on outta your system.

The thing is, bodies don't exactly work like that. The Goop intro does make mention of this fact, however, but then takes two steps back

"While it's true that our bodies are great at detoxing on their own, it's also true that these days, our environment and food system is overloaded with toxic and synthetic chemicals, making it tough for our systems to keep up," the explain.

The site also added, which seemingly confirms our suspicions outright, "Detoxing is a nebulous and overly-marketed concept, though."

But we digress. Editors of the lifestyle site claim that they "feel a bit more in control over cravings, significantly clearer in the head, and often a few pounds lighter," after sticking to the diet for a week or more.

"It's a good way to set a healthy precedent for the year to come."

The diet consists of three meals and one snack, and includes a wide range of items like leek and celery root soup, lentil salad, and chia seed pudding.

And while Paltrow's plan isn't necessarily bad for you, it's safe to say that you should do your own research before embarking on any dietary overhaul.
