60 Minutes' Andy Rooney Signs Off, Gets In the Last Word

Venerable essayist delivers his final thoughts for the CBS show

Andy Rooney has nothing left to complain about.

On television, anyway.

The venerable 60 Minutes essayist signed off tonight after 33 years on the show and more than one thousand opinions on matters big and small. And in characteristically contrarion move, the 92-year-old spent his last segment talking about how fortunate he's been throughout his life, especially over the course of his 70-year career as a writer.

"A writer's job is to tell the truth," said Rooney. "I believe that if all the truths were known about everything in the world, it would be a better place to live."

And to tell you the truth, there will never be another just like him.
