Seth Rogen and James Franco Break Their Silence After Sony Announces Limited Theatrical Release of The Interview

Film was originally put on hold after the threats made

James Franco and Seth Rogen are finally breaking their silence.

The stars of The Interview took to Twitter shortly after Sony announced that they were changing their original decision to cancel the theatrical release of the controversial film.

Instead, Sony revealed earlier this morning that they would distribute the movie in limited theaters on Christmas—the original release date.

Rogen was the first to speak out on Twitter about the exciting news, saying, "The people have spoken! Freedom has prevailed! Sony didn't give up! The Interview will be shown at theaters willing to play it on Xmas day!"

Following his lead, Franco took to his social media accounts to rejoice in the decision.

He shared a photo of him with his pal singing in what appears to be a photo booth with the following caption: "Victory!!!!! The people and the president have spoken!!! Sony to release The Interview in theaters on Xmas day!"

He added another shot of the two comedians smooching and wrote, "Celebrating!!!!! The Interview starring Seth Rogen and James Flacco saved by President Obacco! I mean President Obama!!!!! Sorry!!!"

Michael Lynton, the Chairman and CEO of Sony released the following statement regarding the movie's future:

"We have never given up on releasing The Interview and we're excited our movie will be in a number of theaters on Christmas Day. At the same time, we are continuing our efforts to secure more platforms and more theaters so that this movie reaches the largest possible audience."

He added, "While we hope this is only the first step of the film's release, we are proud to make it available to the public and to have stood up to those who attempted to suppress free speech."
