Nearly six months after his death, Casey Kasem has finally been laid to rest.

Jean Kasem took it upon herself to bury her late husband last week in Norway. Unfortunately, Casey's children were not made aware of any plans.

"Jean buried him without telling the kids," Kerri Kasem's rep said in a statement to ABC News. "She does not have to tell them since she is the conservator over his remains."

The rep added, "Clearly the family is not happy, but they are also at peace knowing that they got to spend his final moments with him."

For the past several months, Casey's widow and his children have disagreed as to where and when the radio legend should be buried.

In August, Jean submitted a written request to the government of Norway asking that she be allowed to have her late husband buried in the capital of Oslo.

Casey's children, however, quickly fired back and demanded the burial occur in California, where their father called home.

"As beautiful as your country is, our father has never spoken of any desire to be buried in Norway either to us or to his friends," the family stated in a letter to Norway's government. "In fact, it was the opposite. Casey wanted to be buried in his hometown of Los Angeles, California, his home of over 53 years."

Casey's children and Jean also experienced a legal battle over his health care and visitation rights.

Casey passed away on Father's Day after suffering from Lewy body dementia, a degenerative disease similar to Parkinson's. In addition to being known as one of America's most famous radio DJ's, Casey also worked as a cartoon voice-over in hit shows including Scooby-Doo.

Our thoughts and prayers continue to go out to his family.
