Mike Colter is going from The Good Wife villain to Marvel superhero. Colter, who recurs on The Good Wife as drug kingpin Lemond Bishop will play Luke Cage in Marvel's AKA Jessica Jones opposite Krysten Ritter. The current plan is he'll then headline his own Netflix series premiering after Jessica Jones.

"Mike embodies the strength, edge and depth of Luke Cage," Melissa Rosenberg, executive producer and showrunner of Jessica Jones, said in a statement. "We're excited to have him bring this iconic Marvel character to life."

Marvel's AKA Jessica Jones is set to debut in 2015 on Netflix after Daredevil. The series follows Jessica Jones, a former superhero who gives up the tights to become a private investigator after a traumatic experience. While working on a case, Jessica Jones encounters Luke Cage, who is described as a "man whose past has secrets that will dramatically alter Jessica in ways she could never have imagined."

Spoiler alert: In the comic books, the two eventually marry.

"Fans have longed to see Luke Cage brought and in Mike we've found the perfect actor," Jeph Loeb, executive producer and Marvel's head of television, said in a statement. "Viewers will get to meet Luke Cage in Marvel's AKA Jessica Jones, and experience why he is such an important super hero in the Marvel mythos."

Marvel's AKA Jessica Jones is just one of many comic book based shows heading to Netflix. Charlie Cox headlines Daredevil and there are shows based on Iron Fist, Luke Cage and a team-up series, The Defenders, in the works.
