FOXMindy is heading to Cali!
When The Mindy Project returns in 2015, Mindy (Mindy Kaling) will be leaving (Chris Messina), NYC and the cold weather behind, heading to San Francisco for her fellowship at Stanford. And judging from these two exclusive photos from the Fox sitcom's winter return on Jan. 6, Mindy may be having a bit of a Legally Blonde-esque experience!
In the pics, Mindy is rocking a seriously sexy hot pink dress...in a room full of doctors. Looks like someone misread a party invitation! Classic rom-com mistake. Classic Mindy. Hey, she said it best in season one: "I just figured if I'm gonna be a mess, I might as well be a hot one."
This wouldn't be the first time Kaling has paid homage to Reese Witherspoon on the series. In the Christmas episode, she hung a wreath inspired by her real-life friend, hilariously calling it a "Wreath Witherspoon," on Danny's door. Witherspoon's reaction? "Hahah....Love it!" Too. Cute.
While Mindy will surely miss her fellow docs and the nurses at Schulman and Associates, Kaling tells us that fans will be meeting some fun new characters at Stanford. "There's a really great roster of people that she meets there," she says. "I like those episodes of like Lost where the character goes to a new place, or like The Walking Dead, where we meet like six new weirdos. And you kind of fall in love with them."
And Mindy will also be unexpectedly running into a major blast from her past, one TV fans will definitely recognize.
E! Online exclusively reported Pushing Daisies star Lee Pace is set to play Alex, a handsome San Francisco tech millionaire who took Mindy's virginity back when he was a dorky college student. Best casting ever?!
