Once again, Pat Robertson is criticizing homosexuality

The televangelist and conservative Christian has predicted that gays will eventually die out "because they don't reproduce." The 84-year-old former Southern Baptist minister made his remarks on his show The 700 Club when a viewer, whose church does not allow its congregants to date, called in to ask for advice.

"I've been in church all my life with my family. I'm not allowed to date," Crystal wrote. "The only ones in my church that are married already knew their partners before coming to church. It is treated as a sin to show interest in or have a mutual understanding in church with the opposite sex. Most of the people in church are frustrated because we're getting older and no one is getting married."

Robertson, who was seemingly appalled by the congregation's strict set of rules, proceeded to advise the woman to leave her church but only after he likened her congregation to the gay community.

"You know those who are homosexual will die out because they don't reproduce. You have to have heterosexual sex to reproduce. Same thing with that church," he said. "It's doomed. It's going to die out, 'cause it's the most nonsensical thing I have heard in a long time."

Calling the congregation's policy "absurd," Robertson continued, saying, "God has made us to be in families. God has created a desire of men and women to have attraction to the opposite sex so that they will reproduce and have children. If I were you, I'd get out of the church as fast as I could, cast the dust of it on your feet, shake off the dust and run."

This is hardly the first time Robertson has raised eyebrows on the ABC Family show. In October, when a viewer expressed her fear over traveling to Kenya on a mission trip due the Ebola outbreak, Robertson responded by warning against the risk of AIDS: "You might get AIDS in Kenya, people have AIDS, you've got to be careful. I mean, the towels could have AIDS." (Naturally, health experts subsequently stated that a towel cannot have AIDS).

He also claimed that is possible "un-acquire" homosexuality in a previous episode, saying, "I know people disagree on the question of homosexuality: Is it something they're born with or is it something they acquire? I think a lot of it is acquired. ... Normally speaking, a person who has acquired this can un-acquire it. We've had many people who have indeed left the homosexual lifestyle and gone into a heterosexual relationship and been very, very happy."
