Oprah Winfrey Throws a Surprise 60th Birthday Party for BFF Gayle King—See the Pics!

Celebration included all of her pal's favorite foods, friends and family

Turning 60 is a huge milestone, so it's only appropriate that your best friend throw you a swanky surprise party!

Oprah Winfrey and O magazine threw her BFF Gayle King the birthday party of our dreams at Pier 59 Studios on Tuesday. The soiree, which was themed "The World According to Gayle" in honor of her column in the magazine, featured all of the CBS This Morning co-anchor's favorite foods at different stations.

The creative menu contained Gayle's Burgers (from Shake Shack), Gayle's Grill (custom-made grilled cheese sandwiches from The Melt Shop that were made on site), Gayle's Pop! Culture Popcorn (three flavors from Pop! Gourmet with customized labels) and Gayle's Desserts (black-and-white cookies, banana pudgies, cakes from Carousel Cakes and cake art from Baked by Melissa).

This might be the best party we have ever heard of, and it's just the beginning!

The morning show anchor doesn't turn 60 until Dec. 28, so we're sure there are more celebrations in store for her. The guest list was pretty exclusive, with only magazine staff attending, Charlie Rose and her kids! O magazine's Editor in Chief Lucy Kaylin also attended the party along with Creative Director Adam Glassman.

Staying true to her best friend's favorites, Oprah had everyone dress in yellow and even went so far as to change into clogs, her shoe of choice. The Hostess With the Mostest really didn't skip a beat! The only person not wearing yellow was the guest of honor! Gayle wore red to the surprise shindig. The media mogul, who already turned 60, Instagrammed some candid pictures from the party, even turning a couple of them into a collage.

"Surprise birthday party for @GayleKing .. Her favorite cohost. Her favorite son and daughter. Her favorite grilled cheese. #happybirthdayGayle," Oprah captioned the pic.

The two have been BFFs forever and often cross off major milestones together. A huge fan of truffles, Oprah decided that she would include truffle hunting on her bucket list. When she finally decided to do it, she, Gayle and Gayle's daughter Kirby Bumpus traveled to Italy together so they could all cross the eclectic adventure off their lists.

Of course, none of their adventures could begin without Gayle taking a selfie against a beautiful backdrop.
