The Good Wife is back Jan. 4, and the race is on to save Cary (Matt Czuchry). In "Hail Mary," Cary hires Bill Kroft (Domenick Lombardozzi), a prison consultant, to learn the ropes. Wonder if he's been watching Orange Is the New Black or MSNBC's Lockup for further study?

We've got your first look at the new episode above.

Also in "Hail Mary," Chris Elliott guest stars as Adrian Fluke, an English professor who is brought in to help Alicia (Julianna Margulies) prep for her debate with Frank Prady (David Hyde Pierce).

Can Diane (Christine Baranski) and Kalinda (Archie Panjabi) save Cary from prison? The race is on!

The Good Wife received three Golden Globe nominations—one for Margulies, one for Alan Cumming and the other for Best Drama. It was the only broadcast drama to break into the Best Drama category. In addition to Elliott, who can also be seen in Schitt's Creek on Pop, upcoming guest stars for The Good Wife include Ed Asner and Rachael Harris. Harris, whose recent TV appearances include Suits, Bad Judge and New Girl, will play an aide to the mayor of Chicago. Look for her to butt heads with Peter (Chris Noth). Mary Tyler Moore vet Asner will play a Democratic party donor.

The Good Wife returns with new episodes on Jan. 4 at 9 p.m. on CBS.
