Most people know Chris Evans from The Fantastic Four. But I know him from the cocaine-infused drama London and the Scarlett Johansson-cenctric The Nanny Diaries. (He was Harvard guy; he was yummy.)

So, anyway, Chris stepped out to one of these Beverly Hills parties that celebrate the launch of the new BlackBerry Pearl 8130, at this Verizon deal in Beverly Hills. So, of course, Reel Girl was there and cornered him. Turns out he's got another reason to celebrate, as well: The Night Watchman.

No, it's not Watchmen, the Zack Snyder (300) comic-book spectacular that you read about all the time. It's The Night Watchmen, a movie I find even more exciting because pulp master James Ellroy is the writer. Story is straight up, grisly and appealing: L.A. cop (Keanu Reeves) becomes widowed and framed. And Chris, who plays a fellow cop, just saw the rough cut.

"It's a lot more violent than I expected," he said. Which is, of course, very good news because that means the movie is faithful to the book. So, yay! Phew! Suddenly, it's like, Hollywood has gotten really great at adapting novels. Good for you, Hollywood.

On a girlier note, everyone can rest assured. Chris told me he's not opposed to doing something on the brighter side, à la Diaries, where he's the man-candy. "It's all about the director," he said. Smart boy. And did I mention cute?
