Angelina Jolie is a lot of things, but a hypocrite isn't one of them.

So, when the actress' six children expressed an interest in wanting to get inked, Jolie wasn't sure she could refuse. "They're already asking me about tattoos," the actress, 39, told the Radio Times. "How do I say 'No'? It's especially hard for dads and girls. For some reason, men get a little more sensitive when the daughter gets a tattoo. And [Brad Pitt] thinks the girls can do no wrong. He's mush in their hands!"

Should any of the Jolie-Pitt children decide to follow in their parents' footsteps professionally, the Unbroken director and the Fury actor would be just as supportive. However, that support comes with a caveat. "We've always said, if they want to act, we won't let them only act, because it's not enough," the UNHCR Goodwill Ambassador said. "They'll have to find a real job at the same time. But I'm hoping that when they see all the other things in the world, they'll be inspired to be writers, politicians, activists."

"They're very individual people," she said, "so I imagine they're not going to follow their mom and dad."

Jolie also covers the Dec. 22 issue of People, on newsstands Friday. Given that the magazine named her "Woman of the Year," it naturally asked the actress-director to reflect on the past 12 months. "So many amazing things happened. My son [Maddox Jolie-Pitt] became a teenager—that was a marker in my year," the Maleficent star said. "More than anything, like any mom, I'm just happy the kids are happy."

The older her children get, the more they realize their parents are famous.

"Brad and I don't know any other way. We spend so much time at home that the film aspect is a fun part of our lives, but it's a small part. We don't shield the kids from it—they come to the sets—but they also do so many other things with us," the Salt star said. "They travel on my United Nations trips. They work with Brad and talk to him about building houses [for his Make It Right Foundation]." Laughingly, Jolie said, "If you ask any of the kids about us, I feel like they'd say, 'Let's talk about how Mommy and Daddy are so uncool. That Daddy makes better pancakes than Mommy.' That's about their level of interest."

Jolie calls herself "old-school" (she doesn't use social media), although she understands that her kids are growing up in a more technologically advanced era than she did. As such, she's made using the internet as safe as possible. "For the kids, we have someone who monitors that," she explained. "It's so beyond what we understand. We wouldn't even know what to look for. It's a scary new world. I can only imagine the trouble I would've gotten into. I got in enough trouble. It just would have been very documented."
