Grey's Anatomy star Sarah Drew welcomed her second child with husband Peter Lanfer Dec. 3, her rep confirmed to E! News.
Despite being born a whole three and a half weeks early, the baby is happy and healthy weighing in at 6 lbs., 14 oz. and measuring 21 inches long.
"We are thrilled to welcome baby Hannah Mali Rose to our family," the couple said in a statement to E! News. "Although we kept her gender a surprise until her birthday, Micah [their son] somehow knew she'd be a girl from the moment we told him we were pregnant. He is over the moon to be big brother to sweet Hannah."
While she was expecting baby No. 2, the actress decided to open up about becoming a mother in a touching essay for Guidepost magazine.
"My marriage was solid, I loved my job, but I was terrified, absolutely terrified, by the prospect of parenthood," she confessed when reliving her first pregnancy. "What if I turned out to be an awful mom? It would be hard—if not possible—to live up to the example set by my own parents."
Thanks to a supportive family and a strong faith (her father is a Presbyterian minister), Drew was ultimately able to fully savor the joys of parenthood.
"I haven't lost my freedom being a mom," she shared. "Maybe I get less sleep, but I feel freer to love, more compassionate, more understanding, more grateful. More like my dad."
