Growing up geeky isn't always fun in the moment, but boy, does it build character!
On Thursday's Jimmy Kimmel Live!, late-night host Jimmy Kimmel and his guest Ryan Seacrest bonded over their admittedly awkward childhood photos. Both fellas also joked about the fact they were featured in People's 2014 Sexiest Man Alive "Geeky to Gorgeous" section.
"This is ridiculous," Ryan, 39, said, pointing to his own childhood pic, telling Jimmy, 47, of his pic, "This is actually pretty cool."
"No," Jimmy quipped. "It wasn't. Trust me!"
The comic wanted to know "what it would be like if that duo [young Ryan and young Jimmy] hung out together," so he Photoshopped a picture of them together as kids.
"That's unbelievable," said Ryan laughingly. "We look so happy, the two of us!"
The KIIS FM radio host also recalled the traumatizing experience of back to school shopping. "My mom would take me to the Marshall's on Roswell Road in Atlanta, and we'd walk in, and I'd look at all the jeans," he said."She'd just kind of smile, and then she'd point me in another direction. I'd say, 'Mom, I like those,' and she'd say, 'Well, let's look at the husky jeans.'"
So, young Ryan would get the Husky jeans. "What a horrible word," Jimmy said.
"No wonder I'm scarred for life about it," Ryan joked.
But he didn't let a less-than-flattering label ruin his back to school shopping experience. "We would get the husky jeans, and I swear to you, there was a restaurant on the corner," he said. "And I'd say, 'Can we stop at the Olive Garden on the way out?'"
"You might as well," said Jimmy.
Ryan agreed, saying, "You've got to fit in the husky jeans!"
