Dreams do come true, people!
After obsessing over Mindy Kaling's wardrobe on The Mindy Project for two and a half years now, we got to go inside her closet and feel all the feels! (AKA, feel all those badass patterns and textures from her crazy-cool, custom clothing. And...It. Felt. Goooood.)
Salvador Perez, head costume designer for The Mindy Project—he also did Veronica Mars, because he's made of awesome—took us inside Mindy's closets on the NBC Universal Studios lot, and also gave us all kinds of tips on how to dress right for your body type, not look like a jackass while mixing prints, and much more.

My favorite takeaway from my afternoon with Sal, and Mindy? Just because you aren't a size 2 doesn't mean you can't look hot and sexy. Period. Don't be afraid to show some leg! Or whatever your best assets might be. As Sal puts it: "Skin to win."
Also, be adventurous! Non-conformity rules. "This character has influenced me a lot," Kaling admitted. "Mindy has made me dare to match prints and patterns, so my real-life looks have completely changed because of this character. It's been a really fun evolution."
