Star Wars: Episode VII Trailer, George Lucas' Special EditionLucasFilms

Star Wars fans have a complicated relationship with George Lucas. On one hand, he is the man who largely created this once-in-a-lifetime, magical film experience that can never be replicated. On the other hand, he botched the crap out that magical film experience when he messed with the original trilogy, adding so many unnecessary special effects and of course, the edited "Han shot first" scene that will send any Star Wars fan into a fit of rage.

And then there were the prequels. There isn't much more to say other than…siiiiiigh.

So when you watch this fan-made George Lucas version of the Star Wars: The Force Awakens trailer created by Michael Shanks, it looks really ridiculous but deep down, you know you're saying to yourself: "that's a pretty accurate take on George."

There are way too many extra creatures in the background, there's that damn ghost of prequel Vader (Hayden Christensen) in the forest with the mysterious hooded figure (who now has an even more pimped-out lightsaber), and there's this, which made us laugh...and then cry a little:

Keep this in mind, however, as you watch the George Lucas version of The Force Awakens: you may mock him as long as you remember that he's responsible for all the reasons you're excited about J.J. Abrams' take on the famous franchise.

But seriously...

HAN SHOT FIRST.
