Watch out, Barbie. Elsa is here to snatch your wig.
According to data gathered by the National Retail Federation, for the first time in more than a decade, Barbie isn't the most sought-after girls toy of the holiday shopping season. Do you know who knocked Barbie off her pretty pink plastic pedestal?
Frozen toys, of course. Because you know we now live in a world where we will probably never not talk about Frozen stuff ever again. That movie is here to stay for-e-verrrrr.
The NRF polled thousands of families, and a whopping 20 percent of parents said they planned on getting their daughters something Frozen-related. Only 16.8 percent said they will be getting Barbie dolls this year.
"Barbie has been the top girls' toy for more than a decade, but it is no surprise that Disney's Frozen has taken the top seat as children have had it on the mind as far back as Halloween," said Prosper's Consumer Insights director Pam Goodfellow.
As for little boys, it's all about Legos, which is expected because everything is awesome.
