Emily Blunt to the rescue! (If only that sentence applied to our lives, too.)

The 31-year-old beauty stopped by the Late Show With David Letterman on Tuesday where she revealed how she saved her Into the Woods co-star Meryl Streep from taking a nasty fall on set...all while pregnant with daughter Hazel

"I did save her life," John Krasinski's wife said of the 65-year-old Oscar winner. "We were rehearsing a scene where she's playing the Witch and she's supposed to jump on the table with a cape and everything. And I just saw this thing happen in slow motion. You know when you see something awful happen and it's like the sound cuts out? Meryl Streep's foot got caught in her cape and we just slowly stared to watch her topple head first towards the concrete floor."

So, what happened?!

"Rob Marshall [director] and James Corden froze, didn't move," she continued before triumphantly revealing, "And the pregnant woman caught her…so she owes me, big time."

The upcoming movie adaptation of Stephen Sondheim's Tony Award-winning musical, which puts a modern twist on the beloved Brothers Grimm fairy tales, marks the second time Blunt and Streep have co-starred on the big screen together. They both previously appeared in 2006's The Devil Wears Prada, and the brunette beauty joked about their onscreen dynamic.

"Yeah, she tormented me in that [Devil Wears Prada] and now she's tormenting me in this movie," she explained of the forthcoming Rob Marshall-directed film in which she plays The Baker's Wife. "She's the Witch that has cast a horrible spell on our house. So I just said this is it we couldn't have any other dynamic now. You just have to hate me."

Blunt, however, has a solution to their onscreen predicament, although the idea didn't sit too well with Streep. "Well she owes me. That's why I think at some point I should play the Queen of Versailles and she could be my lonely dressmaker…" she said. "I mentioned it to her and her response was 'dream on.'"

As for Emily's overall thoughts on Streep?

"She's so amazing it's, like, annoying at this point."

Sounds about right.
