For Taylor Swift, life in the spotlight has had its ups and downs.

Sure, she's been able to sell countless concert tickets and not to mention a few million albums. Yes, we're still obsessed with 1989. But along the way, the "Shake It Off" singer admits to facing a few hurdles.

"As much as I would really like to have saved myself heartache, embarrassment or gossip, I also know that my biggest mistakes have turned into my best lessons and sometimes my greatest career triumphs," she said in the January 2015 issue of ASOS magazine. "If my life had been turbulence free, no bumps in the road at all, maybe my music would be more beige."

Without a few famous boyfriends, would we have huge hit singles like "Trouble," "Back to December" or "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together"? You know who we're talking about Swifties.

Despite her past relationships, Swift has been able to develop several strong friendships with a few famous faces in Hollywood.

Believe it or not, these stars have some serious influence on Swift's fashion sense.

"When I'm getting dressed, it's always based on what my friend's will think," she shared. "They are my number one priority and the opinions of girls are more important to me at this point in my life."

Guess we have Lorde, Selena Gomez, Sarah Hyland and other BFFs to thank for Swift's great style.

And for all those curious to know how you can become one of Swift's closest pals, sadly we don't have the secret. What we do know is that you need to have a life of your own.

"A lot of ‘celebrities' surround themselves with these very chic cling-ons who don't really have much of a job or a passion," she explained. "They follow around their celebrity BFF and provide constant affirmation for them and I'm really not interested in that kind of deal." Do you, T-Swift!
