From the outside looking in, Angelina Jolie appears to have everything together.
Between her successful marriage, bustling movie career and those six adorable children, the actress knows how to handle a lot at once.
But in a new interview with Entertainment Weekly, the actress admits that a recent holiday season was filled with a whole lot of anxiety.
"Poor Brad [Pitt]—you just couldn't talk to me," she told the publication after eagerly waiting to hear back from studios on the fate of Unbroken. "I started wrapping everything—even little things that went in the stocking."
She added, "I couldn't just sit there and wait for the phone. So I was like, ‘I'll wrap this whistle! I'll wrap this candy cane!'"
As most movie fans know, her fears ended up to be unnecessary as Universal Pictures happily accepted the project that will soon hit theatres Christmas Day.
The adaptation of Laura Hillenbrand's 2010 bestselling book tells the true story of Louie Zamperini, a former Olympic athlete who fought in World War ll. Following a plane crash over the ocean, he spent 47 days drifting on a raft before being captured and imprisoned as a POW by Japanese forces.
He would ultimately survive his 24-month ordeal and inspire millions by carrying the torch for the 1998 Olympic games in Nagano, Japan.
"It was such a strong reaction," Jolie shared when first hearing the inspiring tale. "I don't want to just make a movie—I want to evolve as a human being. I need and want to be near this man."
And now with the release date set, Jolie is ready to focus on her family even more.
"I think we have more moments where I'll say, 'I'm going to be a better wife. I'm going to cook.' And [Brad] says, 'Oh, honey. Just know what you're good at. Know what you're not.'" she shared this week on the Today show. "But I do this, 'No, no, no! I'm gonna get this wife thing down.' But he knows my limitations and where I'm a good wife and a good mom."
