Jennifer Aniston's Cake performance is getting lots of Oscar buzz, and after watching the full-length trailer, it's easy to see why!

In the clip, which premiered Tuesday on ABC News, Jen plays Claire Simmons, a woman addicted to prescription painkillers after an injury leaves her in chronic pain. When Nina, a member of her support group played by Anna Kendrick, commits suicide, Claire becomes obsessed with piecing together the broken fragments of her past life—all while breaking down in her own relentless quest for drugs.

With the help of "a really nice bottle of vodka," Claire convinces her support group's leader Annette, played by Felicity Huffman, to give her Nina's address, where she goes and meets her widower, Roy, played by Sam Worthington. "I'm not a stalker," she tells him, clarifying quickly, "Well, not in the traditional sense."

And while Roy seems empathetic at first, he's no white knight. "I know about your accident," he says, "[but] I can't save you. I can barely save myself and my kid."

Claire even envisions Nina appearing before her, asking, "What are you doing? He doesn't even like you." She appears before Claire again when she suffers an apartment breakdown, landing herself in the hospital with breathing tubes in her nose.

Her ever-loyal housekeeper Silvana, played by Adriana Barraza, stays by her side, even as she tries (unsuccessfully) to buy pain-managing narcotics from a pharmacy in Mexico. And while Claire continually breaks down in pain—crying, chugging wine, throwing back pills and even becoming physically violent at times—she wants to fight her addiction.

Her physical therapist asks, "Do you wanna get better, really?" Watch the trailer above to see her powerful response.
