Cristela, ABC's Friday night sitcom, was picked up for a full season on Monday

Cristela, a new freshman sitcom created by and starring Cristela Alonzo, has been picked up for a full season by ABC, E! News has confirmed. Cristela received an order for nine additional episodes, bringing its total order to 22.

I'm crying in front of the travel items at Target because of this," Cristela tweeted of the news on Monday. "WE GOT PICKED UP FOR A FULL SEASON!!!"

Paired with Last Man Standing on Fridays, Cristela debuted to 6.6 million viewers and earned a 1.3 rating in the all-important adults 18-49 demo.

 

Since then, the series has averaged 5.5 million viewers. 

Not as lucky as Cristela? Fellow ABC newbies Selfie and Manhattan Love Story, which were both canceled earlier this season.

Joining the Friday night sitcom in the picked-up club at the network are black-ish, Forever and How to Get Away With Murder.
