Angelina Jolie is opening up about her new movie Unbroken.
In the latest issue of Entertainment Weekly, the 39-year-old actress and director recalls the first days of filming in the middle of the ocean off the coast of Australia.
"If you saw that first shot and my reaction to it, you'd be absolutely sure that this was going to be one of the great disasters of filmmaking history," the Oscar winner says. "The only thing you could do was laugh at how insane this was all going to be. And then you just had to take a deep breath and figure out what to do next."
Unbroken stars Brit actor Jack O'Connell as real-life hero Louis Zamperini, an American World War II soldier who spent 47 days drifting on a raft in the ocean before being captured as a POW by Japanese forces.
"I didn't know what I was up against when I was first getting into it," Jolie added. "I had never done anything like it. I was up for the challenge, but I had so much to learn."
Just the other week, O'Connell opened up to E! News about working with Jolie. "She's a very selfless individual," O'Connell dished. "That's one trait I hope to inherit from her."
As a director, O'Connell gushed, "[She] is very compassionate. She approaches everything like an equal and is thoughtful. She knows what it takes."
