Before Arrow's Felicity Smoak (Emily Bett Rickards) joined a superhero team to save the day with her computer skills, the CW had another blonde IT wiz on another superhero team—Smallville's future Watchtower, Chloe Sullivan (Allison Mack).

But Chloe is about to trade in her super friends and tech genius for a much more serious case.

E! News can reveal that Mack has just been cast on Fox's serial killer thriller The Following. So will she be a friend or foe to Ryan Hardy (Kevin Bacon)?

Mack will play Hillary, a naive, small-town police officer caught up in Ryan Hardy's hunt for a serial killer. She will appear in at least one episode of the Fox drama this season.

Mack tweeted her excitement over her casting earlier today. "Heading to LA in the morning to lend my voice to a brand new Cartoon for Amazon!" she said. "Then headed to NYC to film an episode of @TheFollowingFOX."

This isn't Mack's first big TV gig since wrapping her fan-favorite role of Clark Kent's (Tom Welling) BFF and sidekick on Smallville after 10 seasons. She also recently guest-starred as Elijah Wood's love interest on FX's dark comedy Wilfred.

The Following returns for season three with a two-hour premiere on Monday, March 2 at 8 p.m. on Fox.
