Shailene Woodley covers GQ's "Men of the Year" issue, and although she is most definitely not a man, she's in good company. The magazine's honorees include Steve Carell, Dave Chappelle, Ansel Elgort, Chris Pratt and Michael Sam. Apropos, Woodley has been dubbed the publication's "Crush of the Year."
Woodley plays up her inner vixen for the photo shoot, modeling a T by Alexander Wang dress and Christian Louboutin heels. She also rocks a Hervé Léger by Max Azria dress and Azzedine Alaïa shoes. The 23-year-old actress has embraced her sexy side on the big screen, too. In fact, the actress has lost her virginity five times on camera. Woodley willingly recounted the experiences using her fingers: "The Secret Life of the American Teenager, Fault, Divergent, White Bird in a Blizzard, The Spectacular Now."
When the interviewer joked that people must like to watch Woodley "lose [her] innocence," the actress laughed and said, "Ha ha! Apparently!" Asked if she preferred losing her onscreen virginity to Elgort or Miles Teller, Woodley gave a diplomatic answer. "Um, both different," the Descendants star responded.
Comparing Elgort and Teller's sex scene skills may have been difficult, but what about their manly scents? "That's actually a hilarious question, because on Divergent, Ansel used to wear this really awful-smelling deodorant. I joked, 'If you book Fault in Our Stars, just don't wear deodorant.' He goes, 'Yeah, OK. Fine.' Then he booked it! So I wear this deodorant that I make myself, and I gave him some of that. But he just chose not to wear it—he just wore nothing the whole time," Woodley said. "So I guess Ansel smells more pheromone-y and Miles smells more—is delicious an appropriate word to say for a man?"
(We don't think Teller would mind being told he smells "delicious.")
But enough about her co-stars—2014 has been Woodley's year, after all. Though she's now one of the most sought-after stars in Hollywood, Woodley "absolutely" feels different in her personal life, too. "I hope I'm different than I was a year ago," the starlet told the magazine. "I hope I'm different every day!"
So, has fame been different than what she expected it to be? "The weirdest adjustment was to sort of absorb the labeling the press loves to do," Woodley admitted. "Oh, she's this person or she's that person." Regarding her image, she joked, "I'm the hippie who hugs everyone when they meet me!"
Still, she's not worried about how the press has labeled her.
"I would never give anyone else the power to change my personal virtues," she told GQ.
