Bill Cosby, It's True, It's True

Rhino / Wea

This is just so unfortunate.

As sexual assault allegations against Bill Cosby continue to surface, so does a comedy routine he did in 1969. And that might not sound like a big deal, but it is, because the entire act was Cosby joking about drugging women's drinks. Sigh.

The Village Voice's Alan Scherstuhl tracked down the routine from his now-unfortunately titled LP It's True! It's True!, where Cosby talks about "Spanish fly," a secret substance boys start hearing about "on the corner."

(In reality, Spanish Fly is an aphrodisiac containing a chemical found in beetles that apparently only works on men and can sometimes be deadly. Yikes!)

"From then on, any time you see a girl...'Wish I had some Spanish fly,'" Cosby said. "Go to a party see five girls standing alone...'Boy if I had a whole jug of Spanish fly, I'd light that corner up over there. Haaaaah.'"

He then joked about how his interest in the substance only heightened his excitement when he found out his 1960's TV show I Spy was filming in Spain. "A childhood dream come true...I said, 'Hey, Bob, you know what I'm going to pick up in Spain?' He said, 'Spanish fly.'"

The sexual assault allegations resurfaced after comedian Hannibal Buress called Cosby a "rapist" during one of his shows in Philadelphia recently. "He gets on TV, 'Pull your pants up, black people. I was on TV in the '80s. I can talk down to you because I had a successful sitcom,'" Buress mocked. "Yeah, but you raped women, Bill Cosby, so turn the crazy down a couple notches."

Cosby and his camp continue to remain mum on the matter.
