What was the hardest part about making Jimmy Kimmel’s “I’m F--king Ben Affleck" video? Getting through the scene in which Kimmel and Affleck are wearing sparkly purple cowboy shirts and get so close to each other that they’re literally nose to nose.

“It was hard to get that scene done because, of course, they kept laughing instead of coming close together,” says Joan Jett, who is the first to sing in the "We Are the World"-like setup. "They were looking at each other, and it was hard to keep a straight face.”

And just like “We Are the World," most of the celebs in the Kimmel-Affleck video were able to shoot it together at Hollywood’s A&M Studios, including Affleck and Kimmel, Don Cheadle, Rebecca Romijn, Christina Applegate, Macy Gray, Pete Wentz, Dominic Monaghan and Harrison Ford. (Brad Pitt’s part was shot poolside at the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel.)

“They just called me up and asked if I wanted to get involved,” Jett told me earlier today. “I jumped at the chance to do it.” About four days later, she and the others were on set.

Jett admitted being the first to sing “was intimidating,” but she wouldn’t let that stop her from, um, pushing forward with her gyrating dance moves. “They didn’t ask me to do it,” Jett said. “Everybody just did what they wanted to do to express the lyrics as they wanted to.”

It’s no surprise, then, that a certain vocalist shot his solo at a piano with stars shining behind him. “It was definitely  funny,” Jett said, “to hear Josh Groban
say f--k.”
