Will Ferrell's Shaq Attack

Semi-Pro? Will Ferrell is a total pro.

Even though the funnyman wasn't feeling well, he still hit the red carpet at last night's premiere of his new flick Semi-Pro at the Mann Village Theater in Westwood. But I’m told he hightailed it home before the screening of the basketball comedy even ended.

No word from Ferrell's rep yet on what was ailing him—though you have to wonder whether his outfit may have been responsible. This stunner was apparently loaned to Ferrell by none other than Shaquille O'Neal. I kid you not.

And yes, this is after Ferrell had it altered!

Meanwhile, Heroes starlet Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard went much more public with their romance. Not only did they walk the red carpet together, they strolled hand-in-hand into the after-party.

After finding some room toward the back, the two broke into dance, apparently not bothered by the fact no one else at the bash was dancing.

Also at the Semi-Pro kickoff were Woody Harrelson, Edward Norton, Elijah Kelley, Bonnie Sommerville, Chris Mintz-Plasse, Oscar-nominated Sicko director Michael Moore, the ubiquitous Rex Lee and Semi-Pro costar and Daily Show correspondent Rob Corddry. (Wait till you hear what Corddry said about his boss, Jon Stewart, hosting the Oscars on Sunday. I’ll be posting his comments later today, so make sure to click on back.)

A few miles away, a much different sort of get-together was going down. Huffington Post political princess Arianna Huffington was hosting a cocktail soiree at her Brentwood manse for Jacob Weisberg and his new book The Bush Tragedy.

Mingling in the crowd of intellectual political thinkers was a bearded Adrian Grenier, funny lady Tracey Ullman and Christine Lahti.

An even odder element? Home design magazine Domino was cohosting the affair. But there was a good reason. Weisberg’s wife is Domino editor in chief Deborah Needleman.

And yet another book party was happening at Jeff Klein’s Sunset Tower hotel in West Hollywood. My ol’ New York City photographer pal Patrick McMullan was toasting his new book Glamour Girls with folks like Dita von Teese, Rebecca De Mornay, Casey Johnson and Rachel Zoe.

Tom Ford was also there. And he did something no one in Hollywood ever does—he showed up early, arriving 15 minutes before things even started!
