Was Barron Hilton at the wheel when he was recently busted for an alleged DUI?

I’m told the 18-year-old hotel heir is insisting to friends and family that he was not driving when he was arrested during the early morning of Feb. 12 in Malibu. He’s facing a felony charge of possessing a forged California driver’s license in addition to a misdemeanor DUI.

I’m also told that the family—Barron is one of Paris and Nicky's two younger brothers—is now trying to get surveillance videotapes from the gas station where the arrest was made in attempt to figure out what went down that day.

Why? Well, not long before the arrest, witnesses told police that they saw a black Mercedes E350—with an unidentified woman at the wheel—sideswipe a Ford Ranger pickup on Pacific Coast Highway.

But by the time officers were on the scene at the gas station, Hilton was the one in the driver's seat. He was booked into custody at the local sheriff’s station at 8:35 a.m.

Confused yet? Well, one thing seems clear: The Hilton clan is concerned about Barron's behavior.

“He snuck out when his parents went to sleep and then got hammered in the morning,” a source says. “They’ve had family meetings and a lot of sit-down talks since then.”

After spending nearly nine hours in jail, Hilton posted $20,000 bail. He is due to appear Apr. 14 at the Malibu courthouse.
