TwitterIt wasn't easy, but Al Roker completed his 34-hour marathon weather forecast on Friday's Today show.
The lengthy segment was filled with highlights and hurdles, including kicking Kim Kardashian out of the top trending topic on Twitter and the fact that Roker almost completely lost his voice by the marathon's end.
The beloved weatherman had the marathon certified by Guinness World Records as the longest continuous live weather broadcast.
Roker's broadcast beat out the current reigning champ, Norwegian TV personality Eli Kari Gjengedal, who held the position with 33 hours under his belt. Impressive, nonetheless!
The Rokerthon challenge wasn't all for records and viewer entertainment though, it was extremely charitable as well. The broadcast ended up raising over $77,000 for the USO.
Roker thanked his fans on Twitter for their donations and added, "Thank you to everyone who helped me achieve this goal but I never thought was possible. From our fans, God bless you."
To share the experience with as many people as possible, Roker continually posted selfies on his social media account and counted down the hours until he made history.
He also credited a cold weather pattern over the United States with keeping his broadcast interesting, but when asked if he would try to break this year's record in 2015, he didn't seem eager about the idea.
"I've done this once," he said. "That's it."
