Let's talk about Sex, baby!
After receiving quite the response to our ranking of Friends' couples, we decided to take a closer look at the relationships of another iconic TV show: Sex and the City, where the pursuit for love was basically its own character. Over the years, Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker), Miranda (Cynthia Nixon), Samantha (Kim Catrall) and Charlotte (Kristin Davis) all dated, or slept with, their fair share of men, so one-episode love interests were excluded from the list. Included in our ranking? 15 of the HBO hit's most memorable (for better or for worse!) pairings.
Of course, ranking SATC's couples, from Carrie and Big (Chris Noth) to Samantha and Smith (Jason Lewis) was no easy task. In fact, director and producer Michael Patrick King had a hard time picking his all-time favorite when we chatted with him.
"They're all there for a different reason! When you put them all together, they all make one perfect couple," he said. "Carrie and Big for the danger, that's exciting. Charlotte and Harry for the loyal, loyal love. Miranda and Steve for the reality of what you need in a relationship. And Samantha and Smith or Samantha and her dog, or Samantha and her vibrator…that couple, for the surprise. They're all one perfect couple if you put them all together, it would be so great."
Alas, King was ultimately able to land on one couple: "But if you have to pick one, come on, it's Carrie and Big."
So did we agree with King? In a word: no! As we put together this list, we couldn't help but wonder: will our ranking cause some controversy? Abso-f--king-ulety!
