Diane von Furstenberg is one of the most iconic fashion designers in the world who empowers women through her brand, so it's no surprise that she was recently interviewed by another iconic woman who is also a pioneer in female empowerment—Oprah Winfrey!

For the December issue of O magazine, the media mogul sat down with Diane for an up-close-and-personal look at the designer's life, her days as a princess, proposing to her now-husband of 13 years, and more!

Despite being a woman of great beauty, Diane confessed to Oprah that she doesn't place as much value on being beautiful and instead focuses on other positive aspects of herself.

"I don't think it's nice to think you're beautiful," she said. "You end up counting too much on it. I had to count on my personality. And my legs."

When it came to dishing on the things that she is proudest of in this world, Diane gave a surprise answer—and it didn't have to do with her fashion brand.

"My children," she told Oprah. "And the great relationship I have with me. That is my biggest source of pleasure. I trust myself, I know I am a good girl. I know I can rely on myself. I like my own company. I'm funny. I talk to myself and have a good time."

Diane also revealed the truth behind her happily ever after fairytale back when she was married to Egon von Fürstenberg, a European prince.

"I never had time to imagine," she said. "Soon there was a scandalous story about us in a magazine, and on the cover was a beautiful picture of the two of us and our apartment, and it said, 'The couple that has everything—but is everything enough?' I read this article and saw the pictures—I looked at us, and I didn't like what I saw. I thought, 'I can't take responsibility for us as a couple, I can only take responsibility for me.' I felt then that we would have to separate."

Years later, Diane found love again with Barry Diller—an American businessman who eventually became her husband after she proposed!

"One year I didn't know what to give him for his birthday," Diane revealed. "And I called him and said, 'You know, if you want, for your birthday I'll marry you.' And he said, 'Let me see if I can arrange it.' It's what he always says, and he always arranges it. A week later we married at City Hall, and he gave me—this is so Barry—he gave me 26 wedding rings, for the 26 years we had not been married."

These days, the fashion mogul is busy looking for a Global Brand Ambassador to represent the DVF brand, and the exciting journey is being documented on her new show, House of DVF.
