There's a new Black Canary in town! Laurel Lance (Katie Cassidy) has taken over the mantle on Arrow and we've got the first photos of her in action.
Viewers will remember Laurel's sister Sara (Caity Lotz) was the Canary first, but she met her end in the Arrow season three premiere. We've seen Laurel training and now she's officially taking over the DC Comics character.
It's definitely a rougher, more street look than the character has become known for in the comic book adventures. No fishnet stockings in sight!
Arrow executive producer Marc Guggenheim teased Laurel's journey in an interview with E! News. "It depends on how you define ‘journey.' What Laurel is going to discover is that being a hero is more than wearing a mask and that wearing a mask and costume does not a hero make. It's not going to be an easy road for Laurel no matter how quickly she suits up," he said.
This season of Arrow has seen the addition of many DC Comics characters including Ray Palmer aka the Atom, played by Brandon Routh, and J.R. Martinez as Ted Grant, aka Wildcat.
Coming up for Arrow is a big crossover with The CW's new hit superhero series The Flash. Expect to learn a secret about Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell).
"We're going to answer a question that fans have been asking us for a while now," Guggenheim told us. "It's honestly such a big secret that I don't even want to come close to spoiling it. It's fairly major. It's one of the biggest bombs we've ever dropped on the show, except we're not even doing it on the show! We're doing it on Flash."
Arrow airs Wednesdays at 9 pm on The CW.
