If Bill Clinton looks extra happy these days, chances are his newest family member is likely the cause.

The former President of the United States stopped by The Ellen DeGeneres Show Tuesday where he couldn't help but share his delight in being a grandparent for the very first time.

"Hillary and I only have one child and she's quite wonderful, but it's been a long time since she's been that age," Bill explained to Ellen DeGeneres when talking about his granddaughter, Charlotte Clinton Mezvinsky. "I told her the biggest hoot for me is watching them wake up to the world…She never cries. She just soaks things up and if my mind worked like that, I'd be so happy."

And if you thought Bill was cheerful, Hillary Clinton is also loving every minute of her new title of grandma.

"She's a doting, giddy, deliriously happy grandmother," Bill explained with a smile on his face.

Soon after Chelsea and husband Marc Mezvinsky welcomed their baby girl, both Bill and Hillary were by the couple's side. They even left the hospital together as one happy family.

But as the weeks go by, both grandparents are reminding themselves that Charlotte isn't their own daughter.

"I told Hillary right when we we're going to the hospital for Chelsea to give birth and I said, now we have to remember this is not our child," he joked. "We have to show up when we're invited and do what we're asked. I suppose we'll have a chance to spoil her, but we haven't yet."

In the meantime, Hillary and Bill are planning the next chapters of their lives that may (or may not) include another trip to the White House.

Despite plenty of speculation from Democrats and Republicans alike, Bill wasn't ready to make any announcement on Hillary's behalf Tuesday afternoon.

"I do want to say something seriously, but I don't know what Hillary's going to do, it's true. If I did, I wouldn't tell you, but I don't know. All this looks different," he shared. "We've been so blessed. We've had a wonderful life. We've had the chance to serve. Whatever she wants to do, I'm for. She's the ablest public servant I ever worked with."
